The Green Effect

Much has been made recently of Draymond Green's indefinite suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic; and for good reason. While there have been enough fisticuffs in NBA history (not to mention the Netflix-inspired 'Malice in the Palace'); seldom has there been such a serious case; bearing in mind he was recently served 5 games for attacking Minnesota Timberwolves' 7'1" center Rudy Gobert.

But I think this is the classic case of you got to accept the whole package kinda thing. Green is one of the fiercest competitors in the ultra-competitive National Basketball Association (NBA); so that's saying a lot. You can't take one without the other. In fact; his case reminds me of Charles Barkley & Roy Keane; who were ultra-competitors who bordered on over-aggressiveness at times.

At 6'6", Green is the ultimate do it all-type; skilled enough to play point guard and physical enough to play center. He is one of the key reasons why the Golden State Warriors have been so successful in recent years; with his multi-dimensional skill-set and innate leadership qualities so important to the franchise. Let's hope this latest comeback really remains 'free of antics' and he can help get the Warriors back into playoff contention.
