Sputtering Pistons

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is famous as a league where there is even-ness pf talent; where anyone can beat almost anyone; but once in a while you get a worst team in the NBA that goes on a horrendous losing streak; thus making it even more malu.

Well this season has unfortunately seen one: the Detroit Pistons; formerly the embodyment of greatness in the Bad Boys heyday of 1989-1990; are now making waves for the wrong reasons. With a soul-destroying 28-game losing streak; they have set the record for the longest losing streak in a single season.

Credit to them though; they are playing hard every game and thus do not actually 'look' like the worst team in the NBA. The problem with them though; is too many slashers and not enough shooters. And you need shooting in today's NBA. They also have a logjam of too many centers playing the same position; thus creating an unbalance and lack of chemistry in the squad. Heck their coach is formerly one of the best in the world Monty Williams; who was feted very recently as the heroic coach of the Phoenix Suns; thus making this bad run even more unfathomable.

The Pistons can now be compared to some other horrid teams down the years. But perhaps the one never to be surpassed is the 2015-16 Philadelphia 'The Process' 76ers; who brought tanking to a new level and relied solely on higher draft picks to rebuild a sorely lacking team. This was the age of Jahlil Okafor & Nerlens Noel; pre-Joel Embiid days of course; when the team finished with a lowly 10-72 record.
