Dawn Of A New Eras

Taylor Swift has now gone up to fourth in my all-time musicians' list; behind only The Beatles; Michael Jackson & Elvis Presley by my reckoning. And yes that means she has overtaken such luminaries as Madonna; The Rolling Stones; ABBA & U2.

Never has a musician dominated the air-waves quite like she has; and the whole world now can't stop raving about her. She is dominating the newspapers every day; not just in the Life! section; but also in economics; politics; sports & just about everywhere else.

To me it is all about the songs; and Taylor Swift has an abundance of them; giving her my nickname of 'Goddess of Songs'; to rival Jacky Cheung. When she first started with 'Teardrops On My Guitar' from her first album; people were impressed but nowhere did we know she would turn out to be the mega-star that she would be.

I think it was when Fearless came out that we knew this was gonna be something special. A string of superb hits came out such as 'Love Story'; 'You Belong With Me'; 'Forever & Always' & one of my favourites 'You're Not Sorry'; songs that would be remembered for generations to come. And if that was not good enough; her next album was even better; and to me that was the moment that she became the biggest singer in the world; overtaking such as Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez/

Speak Now remains my favourite album; not least because it has two of my favourite Swift songs; 'Back To December' & 'Enchanted'; with others such as 'Innocent'; 'Speak Now' & 'Sparks Fly'. Just like Roxette's Joyride; it was one of the rare albums when just about every song is nice. As such; it's quite a surprise for me that this album is quite lowly-regarded and features only two songs in the Eras Tour; but I guess everyone has their own taste.

Frankly after that Taylor has been going downhill for me; with her later albums seeming to lose their spark and just not able to come up with the creativity that she once had; but her earlier works is enough to seal her legend status. She did come up with 1989 though; that spawned two nice songs in 'Wildest Dreams' & 'I Know Places'.
