Missing The Beat

For all its hype, 'Michael' turned out to be pretty disappointing. I'm just surprised it did so well at the box office & was rated the third-highest selling biographical movie of all time.

It started out pretty decently; with Michael Jackson starting out with his brothers in the Jackson 5 and seeing how his early brushes with his strict father might have impacted his future personality. However; as the movie goes on; it borders into mediocrity and does not tell anything about Michael which you don't already know.

Surprisingly; it delves almost all the positives of Michael's life & career; with no mention of his child pornography charges; his controversial ways or even his sister Janet. As such; it wastes a glorious opportunity to explore deep into his character and let people understand who he really is. In the end; some of the concert performances seem a tad long-drawn too; and you find yourself seemingly watching a second-grade Jackson concert instead.

It also ends rather abruptly at the Bad concert tour; which is still relatively early in his career. It does have a sequel though; but there is a lot of improvement it could reach out for.
