New York, New York

In 1999; the 8th seed of the Eastern Conference miraculously reached the NBA Finals behind the scorching play of Latrell Sprewell; only to meet a team too good to beat; Tim Duncan & the San Antonio Spurs.

27 years later; it is exactly the same but only reverse; the Knicks are now dominant over a supposedly-stronger Spurs side; and this could very well be a sweep if we aren't careful. The only difference of course; is that the Knicks are the underdogs; proving even more remarkable.

There have been some comparison to the 2004 Detroit Pistons; another unbelievable team that had no superstars but an incredible team ethic. Ditto now. The Knicks have Jalen Brunson; but who else? The likes of Josh Hart; Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby are hardly household names; but man they are good.

With the Villanova combination and Anunoby's superb versatility; they are a handful for anybody; never mind their team chemistry already. But the key player right now is Karl-Anthony Towns. Long criticized & even ridiculed; he is proving everyone wrong & playing with a vengeance; at the same time nullifying the Spurs' biggest threat Victor Wembanyama.

So this much awaited Finals could be over before we know it; the Knicks are back on their home-court and it could well be a a sweep. Except this time - everyone is surprised.
