In The Red

Liverpool recovered some of their best form in this one; as Brighton's brilliant early-season form was cut down to size in this 2-0 defeat at Anfield.

It was not that Brighton played badly; but they were not enough to match Liverpool o=in this one; who seemed determined to step up their game and reclaim their place as worthy EPL contenders. Yasin Ayari could have put them in front & that could have turned the game completely; but from the moment Pascal Gross deflected a Florian Wirtz shot in; it seemed there was no coming back.

Bradley Barcola looks an astute signing for the Reds; and his electric pace on the right is proving a valuable weapon for them. On one of those occasions; he stripped left-back Olivier Boscagli in possession; and there was no catching him as his cross was turned in by Alexander Isak to seal the win.
