Aston Villa produced a sensational performance to stun the Champions-elect Manchester City 2-1 at a rabid Villa Park; as the previous 100% record of Enzo Maresca's men fell by the wayside.
Nicolas Jackson; for so long an unwanted man at Chelsea et al; proved his quality with both goals; the first a solo strike into the roof after an uncharacteristic mistake from Marc Guehi; and the second an opportunistic turn-in after a clever cross from substitute Ibrahim Mbaye.
In between; Erling Haaland did manage to head City level; but they were ultimately second-best on this afternoon; as Unai Emery's men continued their fine sequence of form against City.
